Although the saying knee high by the fourth of July used to be a measure of successful yield in the past, it is no longer a saying farmers want to abide by.
There are many new technologies and techniques that farmers take a part in now including conservation practices, the use of cover crops, planting methods, and traffic control operations. Through taking care of the land and water, we are able to take part in earlier planting and higher end of the season yields.
